There’s always something to celebrate in Vipiteno…
Every season of the year, an overflowing calendar of parties, festivals and markets animates the mediaeval centre of Vipiteno. Our Restaurant 1280 and the Posthotel Lamm cafeteria take an active role in the proceedings, and participate in food and wine events that have won the hearts of tourists and locals alike.
The Lantern Festivals of July and August fill the entire pedestrian area from piazza Fuori Porta to via Città Vecchia—alleyways included—with life and cheer, street food, bands, DJ sets, theatre performances and traditional dance exhibitions from folk groups.
September is the turn of the Canederli festival, when you can take your seat at record-length 400-metre table and savour bread dumplings in 70 different variants savoury and sweet, all accompanied by music and dance.
The Red-Carpet Festival is dedicated to the joys of shopping: On two Saturdays in October, the shops in the town centre celebrate their customers by, quite literally, rolling out the red carpet for them. This event features a different theme every Saturday, and includes parades, DJ sets, aperitifs and exhibitions.
Folklore also occupies a prominent role in the calendar of events, including the famed “Krampus” procession of the devils on the evening of 5 December, St. Nicholas Day, while mouthwatering local products are the stars of the harvest festival and the farmers’ markets. Needless to say, the most highly-anticipated event of the year is, always and ever, the Christmas market.
