Ancient buildings and stylish shops: Art & shopping tour
A tour of the shops on the age-old mediaeval streets of Vipiteno is a mesmerising experience. The classic set-off point is the fifteenth-century via Città Nuova, flanked by magnificently coloured houses adorned with battlements, bay windows and emblematic signage, including the lamb depiction of the Posthotel Lamm—which, given its enviable location, is the ultimate hub for walking and shopping around the city.
After you pass the magnificent Torre delle Dodici, the route continues along the atmospheric via Città Vecchia. Both streets are pedestrian areas, and are filled with all manner of shops and businesses with something to delight all tastes, from stylish fashion boutiques to gift shops, craft shops and sports shops.
Mouthwatering local delicacies are arranged invitingly in shop window displays: speck, bread, traditional desserts, sausages, wines and, of course, the famed Vipiteno dairy products, are all waiting to be taken home as a reminder of your stay, and of the fabulous flavours of South Tyrol.
